My name is Joshua DiPerri and I am a contemporary artist of New England residing in the North Shore. My range of work includes realism and abstract oil painting, abstract encaustic painting, sculpture, photography and poetry. I was born and raised in Gloucester, MA where one is surrounded by the beauty of the ocean and where the smell of sea salt fills the air. My creations are influenced by experiences gained while living in Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, Australia, New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts towns such as Beverly, Haverhill, Beverly Farms and Salem.
My love of art is shared by my great uncle of Germany who is a visual artist and my aunt of Australia, who is an accomplished photographer. A chemist by trade, my father is skilled in the restoration of antique sculptures. I am largely a self-taught artist and am thoroughly enamored by the rich gem-like colors unique to encaustic and oil paintings. Equally intriguing to me is the sheen, color, texture and ability to model three dimensional objects in oil painting. I also enjoy sculpture and photography. My greatest satisfaction comes from the inspiration I share with those who view my work. It makes my day to see someone light up while viewing my artwork.
My love of art originally began when I was in grammar school. As a young boy I would sketch animals, geometric patterns and anything that caught my fancy. I also became adept at woodcarving while in my middle school years. My interest in art truly began to blossom while in my early twenty’s. Each piece of artwork is a unique extension of myself and a little piece of history. I love to share my work and I derive great satisfaction from inspiring others through the many different mediums that art has to offer.
